Research abstract

Solideon’s portable Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) cell addresses a critical need for rapid, on-demand part production within Air Force sustainment and aerospace manufacturing. Traditional repair and fabrication processes are slow, complex, and constrained by long lead times and supply chain limitations, often grounding aircraft for extended periods. Solideon’s WAAM system integrates robotic automation, real-time process monitoring, and an intuitive user interface, enabling personnel with minimal training to produce high-strength metal components in a matter of weeks instead of months or years. Designed for portability and ease of deployment, the system can be quickly reconfigured for use at maintenance depots or forward-operating environments, ensuring faster aircraft repairs, reduced sustainment costs, and enhanced mission readiness.
