Research abstract

As the Department of the Air Force (DAF) continues to “follow through” on transforming operational capability, it will be imperative that future capabilities and resources be affordable and offer the warfighter the agility necessary to respond to the rapidly changing challenges that our pacing threat present.  These solutions must capitalize on retrofit optimization opportunities while at the same time offering systems that are open, modular, and government owned to increase competition, break “vendor lock”, and provide the warfighter options to be leveraged across the spectrum of combat mission areas.   IS4S is pleased to offer this proposal to retrofit the B61-12 Tail Kit Assembly (TKA).  IS4S embodies the expertise and understanding necessary to provide a modular, open, government owned, Sensor Open Systems Architecture (SOSA), and Weapons Open Sensor Architecture (WOSA) compliant design, while in a VITA 74/90.0 (VNX+) small form factor to ensure adaptability horizontally across a family of platforms.  The threshold objective for this effort will be to perform limited prototyping and risk reduction to rehost the B61-12 monolithic Operational Flight Program (OFP) inside an embedded container and on a modern processor architecture.
