Research abstract

To address the Army’s need for a high-efficiency hybrid electric powertrain system for unmanned aerial systems (UAS), Cobra AERO proposes the development of the A99HF-S hybrid powertrain. This system focuses on increasing power density while maintaining fuel efficiency, providing the Army with an enhanced solution for long-endurance UAS missions. Cobra AERO leverages its proven expertise in heavy-fuel propulsion systems and additive manufacturing to deliver a scalable power generation solution with high power density, lower fuel consumption, and increased operational reliability. During Phase I, Cobra AERO will complete system design, prototype development, and performance validation of the A99HF-S, demonstrating the feasibility of this hybrid powertrain for integration into Army platforms.
