Research abstract

Ziva’s proposes ODIN (Precision Indirect Fire Navigation) an offboard guidance system based on a small swarm of UAS hosting a RF payload with four key functions: Two-Way Time Transfer (TWTT);Time-of-Flight Ranging (ToF Ranging); Array Self Localization and d) Time Difference of Arrival (TDoA) Navigation and Guidance by simultaneously capturing an emitted signal across the entire ODIN system and using the difference in time coupled with the array spatial layout to determine the position from where the captured signal was emitted.  In the Phase II effort Ziva will implement the simulated ODIN system in a software define radio (SDR) hardware, demonstrating actual offboard navigation of an ariel vehicle and a scaled speed demonstrations of the ODIN array guiding the quadcopter to a target ring will verify the Phase I simulation and ensure that no critical physical phenomena were omitted or incorrectly simulated in the phase I model.  The ODIN model will be refined with measured parameters and accuracies, and the intercept speed will be scaled up to the limit of the chosen quadcopter, as the implementation latency is improved. In the Phase II Option Ziva will eliminate the time-dilation from the Phase II base system, reducing the latency to meet time constants of real interceptors via hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) testing.  This will ready the ODIN guidance algorithms to meet the time constants and flight dynamics of a selected interceptor.
