Research abstract

ZivaÆs proposed ODIN (Precision Indirect Fire Navigation) enables over-the-horizon engagements in GPS-denied environments, simultaneously lowering the SWaP (100X in volume, 10X in cost, and 10X in power consumption) required on the interceptor, and significantly decreasing the circular error probable (CEP) of the intercept by 10X.Ā These improvements are accomplished via offboarding the localization and navigation to a network of coherent sensors using ZivaÆs coherent wireless technologies.Ā ODINÆs two modes of terminal guidance allow the ODIN system to transition from go-onto-location-in-space (GOLIS) navigation to homing guidance, with both a passive homing for emitting targets, and a semi-active homing mode for non-emitting targets. These homing modes further increase the net accuracy of intercepts, allowing lower SWaP and cost interceptors to prosecute maneuvering targets at radically reduced SWaP-C compared to active seekers.Ā ODINÆs offboard guidance has further system advantages at large numbers of simultaneous engagements, as the targeting is centrally managed allowing for a future battle management layer to dynamically task and redirect resources as needed.
