Research abstract

To address the Air Forceĺs need for quantum and post-quantum cryptography capabilities to protect systems, workloads, and data against harvest now decrypt later (HNDL) attacks and quantum threats. Mainsail Industries is seeking a Phase I STTR to perform research for a feasibility study on HNDL quantum attacks and to determine the feasibility of augmenting Metalvisorĺs advanced security features to include quantum protection against HNDL and quantum attacks. Our proposed adaptation of Metalvisor includes integrating Hypersphereĺs quantum resistant algorithms and PQC capabilities to encrypt stored data at rest and extend our quantum hardened protection against HNDL attacks. HyperSphere SecureStorage renders stored objects useless to attackers, using advanced encryption, data obfuscation, and distribution methodologies to protect against quantum threats. The DoD must evolve its compute base to be performant enough to handle modern workloads and secure enough to handle sophisticated nation state cyber-attacks while simultaneously dealing with the growing threat of HNDL. Current cybersecurity solutions are lacking a quantum hardening component offering little protection against attacks originating from or with a Quantum Computer HNDL.á The DoD must be forward thinking when it comes to resilience against Quantum threats.á
