Research abstract

Metalvisor is a TRL6 TypeZero Hypervisor that provides a cyber-resilient security posture to protect against sophisticated cyber-attacks like processor cyber-attacks, spectre and meltdown attacks, side channel attacks, zero-day exploits, and n-day vulnerabilities. Due to Metalvisor’s advanced CPU micro segmentation architecture, we can stop Side-Channel attacks, prevent lateral movement, and stop exploits. Metalvisor enables mixed criticality compute in a single node while guaranteeing Quality of Service (QoS), security, and performance. This hardware based architecture is a foundational technology to enable next generation of edge compute, AI/ML, 5G/NextG, Cross-Domain Solution (CDS), SOC, Multi-Level Security, Joint All Domain Operations, C2-C6 and many more missions.   Mainsail’s roadmap includes the integration of Socket Supply Co.’s P2P technology into the Metalvisor stack. Socket can be used to enable peer to peer mesh networks and enable communication during periods of degraded network services. Mainsail is seeking a Phase I STTR to perform research for a feasibility study on how Metalvisor and Socket can support Air Force Disaster Response units, as well as Security Forces, uplevel their current End User Devices to support Peer to Peer (P2P) mesh networking, which provides additional paths of communication in degraded network environments. Mainsail will also research the security requirements necessary to enable this capable on a government network.  The results of our research will contribute to the design of our full stack edge system running Metalvisor, ATAK and any additional software necessary as part of our discovery. Mainsail will seek to prototype the full stack edge system with VC funds or a follow on Phase II STTR. Additionally, Mainsail will pull research from the private sector and work with our Academia partners to determine the feasibility of of Sockets in ABMS/CJADC2 Environments.
