Research abstract

Corellian Energy proposes to develop the FlexNode, a miniaturized, self-contained data center solution designed to enhance command and control (C2) capabilities in support of the U.S. Air Force’s Agile Combat Employment (ACE) strategy. The FlexNode addresses critical limitations in current data and C2 infrastructures, which are vulnerable to adversarial disruption and reliant on permanent, centralized facilities. By providing a portable, scalable, and resilient platform capable of real-time data processing and decision support, FlexNode ensures mission effectiveness in contested and disconnected environments. The system integrates advanced data processing, secure communications, and low-latency analytics to deliver AWS-scale capabilities in a laptop form factor. This innovation enhances operational flexibility, survivability, and data processing power at the tactical edge. Phase I will focus on determining the feasibility of FlexNode, refining system requirements, and validating the technology through collaboration with Air Force stakeholders. The resulting solution will be designed for rapid deployment and will offer significant defense and dual-use commercialization potential.
