Research abstract

In response to the growing air power of near-peer adversaries, Odys Aviation, Inc. is proposing the development of a winch and sling-load system for their hybrid electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing (eVTOL) aircraft, Laila. This system will be designed to meet the U.S. Air Forceĺs critical need for flexible, precise cargo deployment in contested logistics environments. The winch and sling-load system, which is the focus of this proposal, will enable the Laila UAV to deliver payloads of 50-120 pounds in austere or hostile environments without the need for runways.
