Research abstract

For the Phase I SBIR, ATG and partner researchers at the Pennsylvania State University investigated three options of lens-based antenna systems capable of operating multiple independent simultaneous receive beams over a frequency range of 1670 – 8400 MHz without moving parts.  The results uncovered several conclusions to our proposed options as well as uncovered new directions for our approach.  This Phase II proposes to design and develop a small scale prototype lens that can operate up to 8400MHz using an innovative multi-band feed design.  In addition, due to the basic research uncovered in Phase I we will continue exploring new and promising directions on the GRIN lens design.
