Research abstract

The proposed R&D project focuses on continuing the development of an extensible Meshed Radar Network Architecture (MRNA) for expeditionary air traffic control (ATC) under Agile Combat Employment (ACE) doctrine. This Phase II effort aims to enhance the capabilities of the X-Band Multi-function Tactical Radar System (X-MTRS) to operate as a scalable, networked sensor array. The project will integrate Numerica’s Radar Signal Processing (N-RaSP) backend, a key component of the Spyglass™ counter-Unmanned Aircraft System (c-UAS) radar, and MIMIR Command and Control (C2) software, allowing for dynamic incorporation of sensors to form a unified field of view (FoV) and provide a comprehensive air picture across disparate coverage areas. The project addresses the following objectives: achieving full real-time operation of X-MTRS with the N-RaSP backend, demonstrating X-MTRS performance through flight tests, and showcasing MRNA’s distributed tracking capabilities.
