Research abstract

The proliferation of agile threats in an evolving battlespace presents a tactical threat to current naval platforms. As threat capabilities expand, the need for faster force-level planning and platform-level execution grows. Numerica proposes to develop and demonstrate a RealTime on-the-fly track Model and Simulation (RTS) Agent that maintains and predicts a robust track picture in communication/sensor-challenged environments. The proposed track prediction component, JANUS, will leverage physics-based and artificial intelligence threat models to predict track states that account for agile threat behavior. ĀRapid and realistic characterization of agile threats such as hypersonic vehicles, cruise missiles, and unmanned aerial vehicles will enable a common operational picture across a disparate networked force. Numerica plans to transition the technology developed under this effort to existing customers in US Military and counter-UAS markets. The team that Numerica has assembled has decades of experience in machine learning and integrating track enhancement technologies into combat systems such as Aegis and IBCS.
