Research abstract

Cognicom Inc. specializes in the development of cost-effective signal processing solutions for electronic threat detection, leveraging extensive expertise in RF and DSP technologies. Our experienced team excels in designing and implementing advanced waveforms and algorithms across various systems, including cutting-edge SoC FPGAs crucial for next-generation signal processing and electronic warfare (EW) applications. Notably, our proficiency in LPD/LPI signal processing has resulted in innovative minimally detectable waveform techniques adopted as  DoD's standards. Our Phase I SBIR project aims to address the challenge of maintaining technological and operational superiority amid evolving threats from near peer advisers. The project will focus on developing signal detection algorithms capable of handling very wideband signals, various signal types, a large number of signals, and maintaining moderate Size, Weight, Power, and Cost (SWaP-C) for diverse platforms. Key objectives include researching and identifying the best SIGINT algorithms, performing trade studies to validate these algorithms, and selecting an appropriate COTS hardware platform for proof of concept.Cognicom’s expertise, demonstrated through projects like the Neptune radio and DVBS2 SATCOM waveform implementation, positions us to significantly enhance SIGINT capabilities by integrating AI and ML advancements with direct-RF SoC FPGAs. This approach aims to improve rapid threat detection and identification, ensuring robust performance in complex environments. The study will pave the way for Phase II, where selected algorithms and hardware will be tested and validated for commercialization and deployment, providing a strategic advantage in electronic warfare.
