Research abstract

Project MASTER BLASTER is proposed by Strike Solutions as an exemplar for Strike’s core sensor platform product - ThunderDome. ThunderDome is a commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) hardware and software enabled edge compute and data fusion system for radio frequency (RF) signals collection, full motion video, and custom sensor integration. Integration of additional software defined radios (SDR) allows customers to expand into other signal types, to include: Automatic Identification System (AIS), Automatic Dependent Surveillance - Broadcast (ADS-B), Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), Internet of Things (IoT) sensors, etc. All of this data - regardless of protocol - is fused into a common operating picture to provide increased awareness and signal correlation at the edge across a network of sensors. ThunderDome leads with edge computing as a solution to enable: Wi-Fi and Bluetooth processing for actionable data, not raw packet capture; flagging randomized MAC addresses;  identifying co-travelers; identifying same results seen across multiple sensors; target/black lists/white lists; and collection schedules. The edge compute approach is foundational for fusion use case highlights, to include: association of related Wi-Fi probes (even with MAC randomization), associated unique wireless signatures from related tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) and tires from singular vehicle; and related disparate data types such as TPMS/license plate recognition (LPR). Strike has developed a complementary suite of software solutions for remote command and control, data visualization, and operator utilities that allow for push-button functionality and simple configuration. Sensor data display and analysis tools have proven to be instrumental for shared tactical awareness of the signal environment, as well as the provision of alerting and whitelist capabilities in an easy-to-use interface designed to enhance and enable various end-user applications. ThunderDome is completely customizable when it comes to form factor. From use in tactical kit to deep vehicle install, the Strike team has extensive experience in modular form factors to ensure ThunderDome fits a CONOP and can be mis-attributable, non-attributable, or attritable altogether. The intent of this project is to offer a new platform or capability enhancement to existing platforms across multiple domains, leveraging powerful compute at the edge, in order to more readily deploy streamlined technology solutions for tactical and operational level employment. Specifically, Strike’s ThunderDome product is already collecting, fusing, and analyzing RF SOIs, IoT sensors, video sensors, acoustic sensors, and other bespoke SOIs within the context of customizable and highly-deployable form factors.
