Research abstract

Sentar proposes an innovative approach to securing Digital Twin (DT) and Operational Technology (OT). The technical concept begins with a zero trust architecture (ZTA) to provide least privilege to users and devices and network micro segmentation to secure communications. We add a software defined network (SDN) implementation for monitoring and enforcing the ZTA policies. The SDN is IP-based, with monitoring and enforcement provided opaquely to the communicating devices. Information technology, DT, and OT systems continue to interoperate as with the standard IP protocol. All ZTA enforcement decisions are made within the SDN protocol and without requiring any modifications to the components in the system of systems.
