Research abstract

Snowbird Technologies offers a solution aimed at advancing applied research to create an innovative capability for using additive manufacturing in deployed environments. This solution aims to reduce downtime for foreign and non-standard weapons parts, motor pool components, and dental accessories. To meet the specified requirements, including the use of metal, plastic, and poly materials, as well as considerations for equipment size, weight, power compatibility, and software needs, Snowbird Technologies will assign a principal engineer investigator with relevant experience in designing similar systems to conduct a comprehensive feasibility study. This study will provide a detailed analysis of the risks and potential benefits associated with the proposed technology. Based on the findings, Snowbird Technologies will offer recommendations for the optimal design, configuration, and construction to achieve the goal of ruggedized additive mobile manufacturing. The successful completion of this feasibility study will form the foundation for designing and developing an operational prototype with the specified characteristics, facilitating the selection for a Phase II award.
