Research abstract

The U.S. and its allies face a critical challenge in countering low-cost offensive systems, such as autonomous drone swarms, with expensive defensive missiles due to the impracticality of spending billions of dollars to neutralize cheap drones. This financial strain could compromise the ability to defend the homeland or engage in offensive operations. Additionally, the significant threat of Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) and nuclear attacks on the U.S. Homeland presents an opportunity to counter with a lower-cost system limited only by the number of interceptors installed in the defensive system.Field Propulsion Technologies Inc. (FPT) presents an innovative solution by developing a new class of metamaterials to create a compact radiation emitter that provides a cost-effective method for the nondestructive deactivation of electronic equipment in weapons and vehicles. This technology could aid Joint Terminal Attack Controllers (JTACs) in small unit tactics and offensive air operations while bolstering defensive measures against enemy forces attempting to breach or attack friendly airspace.FPT's radiation emitter efficiently deactivates electronics with minimal power usage, evades detection through advanced technologies, and bypasses conventional shielding techniques. It enables precise targeting of enemy drones, vehicles, and aircraft, enhancing strategic flexibility for U.S. forces. FPT’s emitter device can also neutralize swarms of autonomous drones and incoming nuclear warheads, protect against EMP attacks, and disrupt enemy infrastructure. FPT, a Colorado corporation, pioneers cutting-edge technologies by leveraging advanced materials engineering and physics. FPT’s technologies find applications across a broad spectrum of Defense and Non-Defense scenarios, including propellant-less propulsion, thermal protection system to enhance re-entry safety, adiabatic plasma manipulation on hypersonic vehicles, strengthening composite armor, and disabling the electronics of incoming missiles or enemy satellites.
