Research abstract

The integration of Directed Energy (DE) weapons into the Missile Defense System (MDS) promises enhanced defensive capabilities for the Combatant Commander’s (CCDR) friendly forces and defended assets. However, it adds complexity to the decision-making process for the CCDR due to the interplay of diverse threats, variable weather conditions, and the unique characteristics of both Kinetic (K) and Non-Kinetic (NK) weapons. To address this challenge, OptTek Systems, Inc. (OptTek) will develop a novel AI/ML-powered Situational Awareness and Fire Control Tool (SAFCT) to support rapid and informed weapon selection and employment in a highly complex and dynamic battlefield environment.
