Research abstract

Sonalysts, Inc.'s (Sonalysts) Force USW Allocation Optimizer (FUAO) toolkit synthesizes user-chosen performance criteria, geographic USW search areas, and USW system sensor performance specifications as input variables.  The FUAO then models sensor performance in each geographic area based on user-defined (if desired), or optimal search patterns/strategies.  These performance-search-laydown metrics are then optimized using a multi-disciplinary optimization approach to identify Pareto-Optimal force laydown alternatives.  The Graphical User Interface will be designed to be flexible enough for use by senior executives, program managers, operations analysts, and Fleet operators.  The software architecture and design will maximize flexibility, enabling fast insertion of new sensor performance models; entry of system capability specifications via keyboard or file upload; and use of either stored, uploaded, or streamed environmental data. To support investment decisions, FUAO will also be able to analyze USW search performance to determine the financial impact to achieve the desired probability of detection for the USW prosecution.  A modular and containerizable software architecture will support fast and cost-effective transition of FUAO into appropriate program of record systems such as USW-DSS and SWFTS.
