Research abstract

Ā Hypoxia-induced loss of consciousness (LOC) is a well-known physiological threat in aviation and poses significant risks to military aircrew who must navigate greater safety risks during flight than their civilian counterparts during high-altitude unpressurized flight missions and high-altitude special warfare jump operations. The threat of hypoxia-induced LOC extends to all aircrew, including rear crew, such as air warfare specialists, loadmasters, and medics.Ā 21% ofĀ USAF depressurization incidents over a 22-year time period involved hypoxia¢ resulting in multiple preventable deaths. Hypoxia may not present with clear physiological responses or perceptible signs and symptoms which is a major operational concern. STATĀHealthÆs non-invasive artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled biosensing platform discreetly and continuously measures a biometric gold mine within the ear¢the shallow ear artery¢ enabling unprecedented 24/7 monitoring of hemodynamic data such as Cerebral Blood Flow (CBF) even during high-motion activities. STATĀHealth offers the first and only wearable device to measure CBF. STATĀcan predict loss of consciousness (LOC) 2-12 minutes before it occurs due to changes to CBF, allowing time for recovery procedure to be executed.
