Research abstract

Space has become more important today than ever before. It has increasingly become competitive, congested, and contested. Current test and training infrastructure are ill-equipped to address ever-evolving contested environments. Space System Command’s Operational Test & Training Infrastructure (OTTI) Program Executive Office has a mission need to develop and field solutions to bring the agility and effectiveness through an integrated test and training capabilities to ensure the delivery of fully burdened force designs to the United States Space Force. Per the Chief of Space Operations Line of Effort #1, Field Combat-ready Forces, OTTI has a requirement to develop a virtual wargaming training environment that enables Guardians to test, train, and develop tactics with operationally relevant scenarios to achieve and sustain full-spectrum readiness. GridRaster, a pioneer in providing adaptable and collaborative virtual training environments, proposes to develop a data-centric, collaborative virtual training platform that allows OTTI to develop fast and accurate digital twins, create dynamic virtual environments and simulations and support collaborative mission rehearsal.Grid Raster’s platform will allow OTTI to simulate opposing forces and squadrons to represent threats and adversarial reactions across mission threads. GridRaster will equip USSF OTTI with capabilities that allow on-demand shared training in a realistic space environment that is scalable for multi-domain exercises at scale anytime, anywhere. During the Phase I, Team GridRaster will explore the problem with USSF/DAF Stakeholders – SSC/TI and others, to conduct a research and development-based feasibility study, explore anticipated benefits, clearly define needed adaptations, and define clear milestones and acceptance criteria for Phase II efforts. Additionally, GridRaster will continuously network to find and engage as many potential USSF/DAF/DoD end- users/customers as possible.
