Research abstract

Syrnatec, Inc., an ITAR-compliant women-owned small business based in Connecticut with expertise in Satellite electrical power systems, proposes an innovative and novel low SWaP Highly efficient Electrical Power System (EPS) consisting of a radiation-hardened high power Ga2O3 based isolated DC-DC converter, a highly efficient perovskite solar array, and high power density Li-metal batteries. Syrnatec has developed an innovative radiation hardened high power Ga2O3 based isolated DC-DC converter and integrated it with an EPS for satellites participating in deep space missions, including LEO and GEO missions of NASA. We will integrate the novel, highly efficient 3-amidinopyridine (3AP) with the Pb–I framework perovskite ((3AP)PbI4) solar cells with proposed EPS. (3AP)PbI4 perovskite solar cells have a power conversion efficiency of 24.8%. (3AP)PbI4 perovskite solar cells will provide a higher yield of solar energy. We will use innovative Li-metal batteries due to their high energy density. We will integrate these batteries with the EPS to increase the energy storage capacity of the satellite. To further optimize power generation and consumption, the proposed EPS will be integrated with a Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) algorithm, The MPPT algorithm aims is to follow the maximum power point of a PV system; whereas, the maximum possible current depends on the received solar irradiance. Therefore, to increase the power, only the voltage can be varied. This variation can be controlled using a DC-DC converter while acting on it. We will use Fuzzy Logic Control (FLC) based MPPT algorithms to intelligently reaches the desired maximum power point (MPP). It will provide more robustness and better performance for the optimal point tracking in terms of power oscillations, convergence speed, and accuracy resulting from any irradiance and temperature variations.
