Research abstract

Disrupting logistics and impeding the progress of the adversary are critical functions at the Forward Line of Own Troops (FLOT). ĀThe ability to take this disruption deeper into the fight (70+ km) with high levels of precision is a capability that the warfighter needs and which current systems cannot fulfill. ĀDragoon proposes the use of an uncrewed aircraft system (UAS) fitted with equipment for automatic target recognition and engagement, which is both low cost and high endurance. ĀSuch a system will have the ability to transit deep into the fight, remain on station for many hours, engage armored targets, and be optionally recoverable. ĀThe Phase I effort will involve a system analysis to lay the foundation for integration of required subcomponents onto DragoonÆs existing UAS platform. ĀIn collaboration with Toyon Research Corporation and MMS Products, Dragoon will explore what effects are possible using a UAS in the Group 1 size class.
