Research abstract

Sentinel AI, developed by KILSAR, is an advanced infrastructure monitoring platform with applications across the Department of Defense (DoD), energy and utilities, physical security, and agriculture sectors. The platform utilizes Object Event Detection and Response (OEDR) to dynamically monitor assets and objects, providing real-time incident response capabilities. By connecting to an organization's camera systems, Sentinel identifies, tracks, and monitors known and unknown assets within defined physical areas, offering complete visibility into asset behavior and status. Key features include customizable "feature extraction" fields, "classification tags," and detection rules, allowing users to identify specific attributes of a person or object of interest. Sentinel ingests data from various camera sources, utilizing convolutional neural networks and AI software to normalize and structure the data. Users can set up alerts based on specific thresholds, creating events that are dispatched and monitored via a feed and GPS-integrated location coordinate. Sentinel supports diverse use cases, such as aircraft tracking, cattle movement monitoring, crop health assessment, people detection in stadiums, and vehicle tracking on campuses. The platform accommodates various sensors, including radar, LiDAR, 3D, and thermal, enhancing its versatility. In the defense sector, Sentinel addresses crucial needs like monitoring unmanned territories, traffic through security checkpoints, and detecting suspicious activities. The platform provides a library of models for detection, allowing users to fine-tune models for specific scenarios. It has gained traction in law enforcement and agriculture, showcasing a unique advantage over existing technologies. For the United States Air Force, Sentinel emerges as a groundbreaking solution crafted through extensive Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation (RDT&E). It leverages artificial intelligence and computer vision to autonomously detect, identify, tag, and persistently track individuals and objects across air base perimeters, enhancing security capabilities comprehensively. Beyond base perimeter security, Sentinel extends its capabilities to restricted area monitoring, incorporating automatic license plate recognition. It generates alerts for unidentified individuals in camera views without positive identification, enhancing proactive monitoring. In conclusion, Sentinel stands at the forefront of technological innovation, addressing current security challenges and laying the foundation for future advancements in monitoring and surveillance technologies. KILSAR's product modifications, based on end-user feedback, demonstrate a commitment to saving time and resources, positioning Sentinel as a cornerstone in the evolution of defense systems.
