Research abstract

The focus of the proposed work is to automate the heating process of composite battle-damage repairs in a contested environment. This will be accomplished by using TemperÆs Smart Susceptor heating blanket technology as a true ōset it and forget itö operation. Current composite repair processes require the temperature constantly monitored and adjusted by adding or removing insulation during the curing of the composite repair. This requires an experienced technician for up to 14 hours. TemperÆs Smart Susceptor process is different. With the Smart Susceptor repair system, after the heating blanket is setup, the operator simply selects a recipe, presses a button, and walks away. This is possible because the underlying physics of the processes makes overheating impossible!
