Research abstract

The Air Force, DoD and American commercial entities have all identified the immediate need to rapidly scale our SATCOM capabilities and bandwidth to meet real-time requirements and match mounting threats from near-peer adversaries like China and Russia. With the AscendArc platform, warfighters are able to rapidly respond to increased data demands, increase satellite coverage and bandwidth all at a fraction of the cost. It has been demonstrated time and again that the current SATCOM solutions do not meet the current data demands of our military and weapon systems. As demonstrated in the invasion of Ukraine by Russian forces, Ukraine desperately needed a rapid solution for data exchange and their only option was Starlink, a bandwidth provider with issues of cost, coverage, reliability and redundancy. It is clear that if the United States were to enter a conflict with a near-peer adversary, current solutions would not be able to support the demand of a large scale military operation. AscendArc manufactures bandwidth. Using a novel design, AscendArc has created a satellite which has a low production cost, low cost per launch, and flexible deployment, targeting multiple high value customers. With AscendArcÆs design, we are able to launch 30 satellites on a New Glenn or Starship rocket, allowing a flexible and responsive area of coverage, which enables redundant operations.
