Research abstract

To meet the defense need for weather intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) and operational mission planning, Muon Space proposes performing a feasibility study to determine the United States Air Force (USAF) and US Space Force (USSF) benefit of adding an 8.5 micron infraredĀband to our commercialĀsatellite fire instrument. Muon SpaceÆs fire sensor isĀmultispectral Electro-Optical/ Infrared (EO/IR) with six bands designed for wildfire detection, fire behavior monitoring and burn scar analysis.Ā The addition of an 8.5 micron band to this instrument would have dual application to both the commercial wildfire mission and defense needs.Ā
