Research abstract

Ombra, a Florida-based small business, proposes to work with the Ohio State University (OSU) as a subcontractor to develop Shroud Air Deploy Resupply (SADR). With the emergence of Great Power Competition (GPC), the Department of Air Force (DAF) is no longer guaranteed air superiority. The contested and congested air space means more difficult resupply, with a worsening state as you progress towards more forward operating positions. These forward operating positions often are in the most need of supplies. An operational capability resupplying a targeted operational area, containing directed allocations is highly sought after to permit safe and efficient supplies previously unobtainable without gunship support or all together. Ombra and OSU will develop SADR, a modular and scalable pneumatic-deployed solution to combat the contested and congested resupply logistics ranging from quadcopter drones through common launch tubes (CLTs). SADR encapsules immediate supply needs such as medical supplies, small batches of munitions, rations, or clothing / equipment. SADR hopes to replace the current state of the art, which is easy to intercept, highly inaccurate, and descends under one large system at low speeds.
