Research abstract

GridRasterÆs 3D AI and XR software generates full 3D spatial maps and high-fidelity mesh models of large objects using 2D color images with 3D depth maps from COTS hardware and desktop class CPUs/GPUs on a server (on-prem/edge/private/public). This allows for precise estimation of location and orientation of the object in 3D space with high precision. In the Phase I effort, Grid Raster Inc will conduct a R&D feasibility study to research the necessary adaptations for its accurate 3D spatial mapping, object localization and mesh model generation for a multitude of applications including a virtual process order for an aircraft asset (KC-135 BOOM) Āusing XR technology to train, guide, and display the repair processes to the mechanic, as well as all equipment needed to run said processes order, including software, headsets, and other necessary items. Using the proposed solution, OC-ALC/76 CMXG can ensure that no steps are missed, mechanics can effectively complete tasks and rapidly analyze technical data. ĀTo meet the SECAFÆs Operational Imperative #7 to improve the readiness of the force to transition to wartime posture ¢ 76 CMXG, OC-ALC must prioritize virtual process order allowing for faster training methods, reduction in human error and faster defect detection on repair assets. During the Phase I, Team GridRaster will explore the problem with DAF Stakeholders ¢ 76 CMXG (OC-ALC), 76 AMXG (OC-ALC), RSO and other maintenance depots, to conduct a research and development-based feasibility study, explore anticipated benefits, clearly define needed adaptations, and define clear milestones and acceptance criteria for Phase II efforts. Additionally, GridRaster will continuously network to find and engage as many potential USSF/USAF/DoD end- users/Customers as possible.
