Research abstract

The 49th Medical Group at Holloman Air Force Base (NM) has a national defense-related mission need for a private, secure, and HIPAA-compliant communications tool to simplify care and case management for Active Duty Members, Retirees, and Families. Specifically, the 49 MDG desires a mobile application to improve efficiency, create greater adherence to patient care plans, and improve care coordination for medical readiness. The main goals of this project are to integrate and tailor the Outpatient Mobile Application for: (1) Medical Readiness Requirements and Workflows for Deployment (2) Occupational Health Coordination for Geographically Separated Units (IMR for GSUs) (3) Case Management for Active Duty Members, Retirees, and Families Outpatient proposes to introduce the commercially viable Outpatient Mobile Application, carrying a Technology Readiness Level-8 (TRL-8) rating. Outpatient is a mobile application to simplify care collaboration and communication for Patients/Airmen, Families, Commanding Officers (CO), and Professional Medical Staff and provides functionality for Schedule, Coordination, Automatic Notifications, Messaging, Task Assignments, and Updates. (The only reason it’s not TRL-9 is because it’s not currently used in military environments yet.)
