Research abstract

AFRL-RVSV has a national defense-related mission need in the area of Focus Area Topic High Performance Small Satellite Technology. Specifically, high-reliability, high-performance, critical power management and distribution systems for small satellites in radiation-prone space environments.  We believe technology development under the subject SBIR topic may eventually contribute to solving a mission need.  The main goals of our involvement in this project are to modify Ragnarok’s existing small satellite non-defense PMAD system to fulfill AFRL-RVSV’s requirements to operate in a higher altitude above Low Earth Orbit. The workscope includes defining requirements and modifications after simulating the target radiation-environment and thermal environments. The mission impact of this project on the Air Force and the Department of Defense will be functionally demonstrate and qualify a higher reliability power management and distribution system for future hosted payloads, high-power communication, high-power electric propulsion, and small satellite platforms greater than 80 Watts.
