Research abstract

Length of travel for unmanned aircraft is critical for any sustained operations. For success on the battlefield, as well as Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions, length and distance of flight time can mean the difference between mission success and failure. The ability to fly further and stay airborne longer serves as a significant battlefield differentiator, helping to ensure overall mission success. Impossible Aerospace has developed the next generation of electric unmanned aircraft, the US-1 endurance multirotor drone. The US-1 is a 26”x26” remotely operated multirotor drone primarily marketed to enterprise and government customers for public safety and private security. It is based on strongly differentiated, patent-pending battery and propulsion technology that enables a significantly longer flight time than other aircraft in the same class. While most quadcopters today deliver 20-30 minutes of flight time on a battery charge, variants of US-1 have delivered as much as 124 minutes in internal Impossible Aerospace testing. For our Phase II effort, Impossible Aerospace has the support of the Warfighter's Edge (WEdge) Advanced Development Lab to enhance and deploy our revolutionary platform. Impossible Aerospace’s technology provides the USAF a deployable long-range electric unmanned aircraft significantly increasing the flight time than other aircraft in the same class. To succeed in our Air Force and broader DoD market-entry, we have also secured an additional $2.0M in matching Venture funding that will directly support these efforts.
