Research abstract

Secure Enterprise Engineering's (SEE) software automation solution provides repeatable deployments of open source software and containers to configure cyber hunting capabilities on hardware and virtualization platforms. Hunting involves the proactive search for artifacts left behind by an attacker as they move through a business’ workstations, servers, and network infrastructure. SEE’s solution provides automated playbooks for configuring sophisticated hunt kits designed to enable security analysts to hunt for indicators of malicious actors. Our automation playbooks are designed largely around the configuration and installation of open source software which makes it particularly attractive to the commercial marketplace as well as Government agencies. The breadth and depth of hunt kit capabilities requires installation of numerous software baselines that vary depending on the specific requirements of the deployment environment. Customization of hunt capabilities to reflect either changes in the IT environment or changes in adversary tactics is far too complicated to be left to manual, error-prone processes. SEE’s solution will leverage Air Force Unified Platform mission-ready LevelUP container solutions, trusted software repositories, data transport, and enterprise-wide accessibility to serve as the authoritative enterprise capability for hosting and executing software installation playbooks required for push button configuration of DoD hunt kits.
