Research abstract

Current packaging of prescription eyedrops produces oversized eyedrops that are up to five times the capacity of the human eye, resulting in medication overdosing, serious systemic side effects, and ultimately decreasing treatment adherence. Medication non-adherence promotes poor health outcomes in Airmen as well as abroad in our foreign partners’ armed forces and civilian authorities. The Nanodropper is a universal adaptor for prescription eyedrop medication bottles that creates smaller and more efficacious droplets to reduce adverse side effects associated with oversized eyedrops in order to improve patient treatment adherence. By providing cutting-edge care to Airmen and overseas partners suffering from debilitating eye conditions, Nanodropper is supporting the Air Force's missions to fly, fight, and win in air, space, and cyberspace, and to strengthen national security objectives through Global Health Engagement, respectively.
