Research abstract

The overall goal of Phase I Detection and localization of GPS spoofing signal emitters (TRACE) is to demonstrate the feasibility of operating a collection of ad-hoc distributed radio platforms as a distributed networked coherent GPS receiver, and leverage the spatial characteristics of the GPS signal to detect the presence of GPS spoofing emitters and subsequently determining the location of the spoofing emitter(s) via simulation enhanced with critical measurements.TRACE leverages a decade of R&D at Ziva developing algorithms to cohere an ad-hoc collection of distributed software defined radios in phase (at <10ps) and time (at <100ps) even when mobile. In the baseline effort Ziva will develop and refine its current ad-hoc beamforming simulation system to implement a GPS centric physical and waveform model.Ziva will validate these new algorithms for realistic CONOPS via simulation, leveraging Zivas extensive experience simulating retrodirective ad-hoc beamforming. An optional effort will focus on increasing the geolocation accuracy, with the emphasis on geolocating multiple simultaneous GPS spoofing emitters.
