Research abstract

Integrated Solutions for Systems, Inc. (IS4S), a leader in advanced PNT technology, proposes to develop image based navigation systems that will provide PNT to the mounted platforms when GPS is denied. The developed systems will use cameras spanning the infrared region, and will be assessed for performance in terms of solution accuracy and availability. Two means of navigation will be studied in Phase I: celestial navigation and feature-based navigation. Terrain elevation information will augment the navigation systems to reduce altitude error. Critical image sensor parameters will be identified with a thorough study. Finally, an architecture for Phase II real-time implementation will be developed.
