Research abstract

Current ATC training is subjective with minimal standardization to measure mastery. It depends on outdated, static scenarios that fail to consider trainee workload or stress levels, causing delays in certification and risking operational readiness in high-stakes environments. This outdated system has cost the DAF $47M over the past decade, leading to unsafe airfields, skies, and weakened national defense. Our simulation and training tool, ATXR, meets today's trainees where theyare – providing a modern & immersive, Virtual Reality and Mixed Realitycapability – to accelerate air traffic control training.
