Research abstract

Air superiority is the single most important factor in deciding the outcome of a modern conventional war. The Air Force's ability to achieve and maintain air superiority is critical for long-term success against peer adversaries like China, Russia, & North Korea. Ultimately air superiority begins and ends with operations projected from and recovered to an airfield via air traffic control services. As the Air Force enacts ACE, operation from and to non-traditional airfields, landing zones, and suitable landing strips will be instrumental in US dominance. ATCs ensure the safety and efficiency of air traffic on the ground and in the air. Ineffective Air Traffic Controller (ATC) training is a threat to National Security. ATCs are 39% undermanned and experience a 24.4% attrition rate. We have designed a simulation and training tool that meets today's trainees where they are – providing a modern, interactive, multi-touch, collaborative, and scalable training system with advanced voice recognition and response. UFA’s ATLIVE will better equip ATCs, and associated Airfield Operations AFSCs, to support varying Air Force missions sets across the globe, ultimately ensuring enhanced readiness, air superiority, and overwhelming mission success. The adapted and integrated virtual training delivery of UFA's ATC training simulations will directly benefit the Air Force's ability to deliver precise and timely results in highly interconnected command and control networks worldwide
