Research abstract

To meet the demands of the A25D-006 “Adaptive Filtering Technique for Low-Cost RF Emitters” program, the MaXentric Technologies (MaXentric) and University of California San Diego (UCSD) team proposes the REFINE (RF Emitter Filtering for Intelligent Nonlinear Elimination) solution, which provides an artificial intelligence (AI) driven radio frequency (RF) waveform linearization system in digital twins for radar intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance applications. The team leverages >15 years experiences of adaptive digital pre-distortion system, which significantly improves signal fidelity and power efficiency of mobile and base-station RF power amplifiers for 5G communication applications. During Phase I works, the team will demonstrate feasibility of the RF waveform linearization techniques with latest non-constant modulus radar waveform not only for digital twin simulation but also for RF power hardware. Toward Phase II demonstration, the team will make a plan for implementing the linearization system into digital twin platform at Army Program Executive Office, Simulation, Training and Instrumentation (PEO-STRI).
