Research abstract

R-DEX Systems (R-DEX) proposes to team with its strategic partner and leverage the team’s extensive experience in the development of innovative, real-time sensor exploitation technologies to develop robust ISAR/IR sensor fusion for maritime kill chain acceleration. Specifically, R-DEX proposes to leverage its prior work in Physics Informed Machine Learning to enable the near real-time fusion of Inverse Synthetic Aperture Radar (ISAR) and infrared (IR) sensor data from different platforms with limited onboard processing and limited communications. The proposed approach will be designed to be configurable to various platforms with different bandwidth requirements. In the Phase I, R-DEX will perform a comprehensive feasibility study to demonstrate the scientific, technical, and commercial potential of the proposed technology. In Phase II, R-DEX will team with its strategic partner to further mature the proposed technology and provide the Sponsor with a Phase II prototype deliverable. Specifically, in Phase II the team will demonstrate performance in a series of experiments for a wide range of environmental parameters. This project builds on proven technologies and will enable a new operational capability in 3-5 years, thereby radically improving the near real-time fusion of ISAR/IR for maritime kill chain acceleration.
