Research abstract

Under this proposed Phase II effort, RSI will adapt its prototype & commercial technologies to safely bring active hydration to todayĺs warfighters operating in a chemical contaminated environment (MOPP 4). FluidLogic will familiarize Airmen with the commercially available hydration backpack system and non-CBRN prototype systems to garner hands-on feedback, define requirements and potential adaptations. Current CBRN standards, regulations and testing protocol will be reviewed to identify and establish the engineering effort & testing plan to develop a purpose-built FluidLogic product that can operate in a chemical environment and meet all MILSPEC requirements. Feedback from the Defense Threat Reduction Agency during their 2023 Chemical Biological Operations Analysis experiment will be incorporated into this development effort.á Additionally, scenarios to test the safety of proposed designs will be defined and integrated into the workflow and schedule working with the DoDĺs Joint Program Management - CBRN Defense office at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD. FluidLogic will work with the USAF Human Performance Working Group to assess potential effects of ôMicro dosingö water using FluidLogic on users in the full MOPP 4-key for commercialization & supporting product adoption within DoD. Development will include concepts, sketches, and 3D printed prototypes generated for AF Customers/End Users to evaluate ôin the fieldö to focus updates and improvements. Three cycles (A, B & Final prototyping) of development will ensure the human touchpoints, usability, and robustness of the adapted products will meet the needs and standards of the AF Customers/End Users. Areas of focus include integration of FluidLogic into the JSGPM M50/M51 protective mask, as well as evaluations of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD), FM-53 and MSA produced dual-use firefighter mask.á Under this proposed Phase II effort, FluidLogic will adapt its prototype & commercial technologies to safely bring active hydration to todayĺs warfighters operating in a chemical contaminated environment (MOPP 4).
