Research abstract

SNITCH is a Radio Frequency (RF) Direction Finding (DF) and Geolocation (GEO) system that operates from 30 MHz to 6 GHz. SNITCH electronics and antennas, has Size, Weigh, and Power (SWaP) of 6” diameter x 7” long, 3.5 lbs. and operating modes between 30 and 50 Watts. SNITCH has flight test demonstrated, single platform, 360-degree, passive RF DF and Home-on-Jam (HoJ) capabilities integrated onto Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (SUAS) in GPS denied environments. This effort maintains SNITCH SWaP and:Increases operating band to cover 30 MHz to 12 GHz (T)/18 GHz (O).Enhances the HoJ capability from certain navigation jammers to a general Home-on-Threat (HoT) capability for relevant radar, very fast hopping Tactical Data Links (TDL) and agile jammers.Performs flight test demonstration over the extended band on relevant emitters in a GPS denied environment and/or without use of GPS.Extends current SNITCH DF/HoJ capability from stationary emitters to moving emitters and flight test demonstrates the capability.Demonstrates jammer and radar avoidance. Develops and demonstrates use of SNITCH DF/GEO results to (1) fly around jammers and maintain GPS in a GPS denied environment (2) detect radar and alter course/track to avoid detectionImprove SNITCH environmental robustnessDelivers two (2) improved SNITCH to Air Force
