Research abstract
EAGLE HOVERJET | TRL 6 | TRL 7 BY 2024 áThe fully autonomous Eagle HoverJet was designed to save lives by a team of Veteran Special Forces operators, Generals, and Engineers. Capable of long-range resupply, reconnaissance, data collection and real-time reporting, threat detection and kinetic armed response, the Eagle represents a versatile and flexible drone that is built for real-world operations. The distinctive feature that distinguishes HoverJet designs from other aircraft is its one-of-a-kind tip turbine ducted fan integrated into the wing. This enables it to smoothly take off and land on various surfaces, including unprepared and basic field locations, as well as Forward Operating Bases, and even ships at sea. These sites may comprise gravel, sand, grass, snow, and more. Extensive testing resulted in a made-for-manufacturing re-design effort towards TRL 7 LRIP to be achieved by mid-2024. The technology underpinning the unique capability of the XVH-100 Eagle HoverJet is a blend of proven designs with modern innovation. The aircraft is based on a highly efficient fixed-wing lifting body configuration. Embedded tip-driven lift fans linked through a novel drive schema work to balance the demanding requirements of Vertical Takeoff and Landing (VTOL) flight with fast forward speeds. All HoverJets meet the level one as defined in the Cooper- Harper rating scale and are on a prescribed path to DAF and FAA certification. VTOL HoverJet FoS offers an innovative blend of proven designs with modern innovation. The aircraft is based on a highly efficient fixed-wing lifting body configuration. Embedded tip-driven lift fans linked through a novel drive schema work to balance the demanding requirements of Vertical takeoff and landing VTOL flight with fast forward speeds. solutions to address the problems that both commercial companies and government agencies where Speed and payload are time-critical delivery needs. This will free the DAF/AFSOC to focus on the best use cases across each serviceĺs unique needs and pain points rather than having to multiply the need for additional platforms to do similar tasks. RAPID FIELD-READY LOADING AND UNLOADING The XVH-100 has an upper and lower clamshell door that allows for easy loading and unloading of the Universal Load Devices (ULD) in under five minutes. The XVH-100 and ULD payload modules are interchangeable systems that can be preloaded for different mission CONOPS providing rapid multi-mission interoperability. Additionally, ULD modules can be preloaded into shipping containers. The aircraft has integral floats that serve as both fuel storage and water flotation when required. á
