Research abstract

The U.S. Space Force maintains responsibility for global space operations in protection of national interests and is aligning its strategic plans to provide Space Resiliency. Commercial firms are leading the way towards smaller and more rapidly deployable space assets to meet various commercially driven needs. These smaller satellites are also being deployed more rapidly and at lower cost than previous generations. Both military and commercial operational needs require smaller payloads to align with the smaller satellite trend while maintaining or improving mission capabilities. In support of these requirements, Nokomis is developing a modular and rapidly deployable next generation ultra-compact Radio Frequency (RF) Sensor with unmatched sensitivity and Size, Weight and Power (SWaP) named Hiawatha RF Space Sensor (H-RFSS). This ultra-compact sensor will close current gaps in space resiliency in support of Space Force future mission requirements.
