Research abstract

Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT) is proposing an Automated Test and Re-Test (ATRT) capability to create assurance tests directly from either an Architecture Analysis and Design Language (AADL) system model and/or Systems Modeling Language (SysML) model for the Gunslinger and Module Effects Launcher/Launcher Electronics Adapter (MEL/LEA) programs for the Future Attack Reconnaissance Aircraft (FARA). This capability will support integration testing in a variety of configurations. The methodology proposed is intended to support distributed testing across the complete development cycle and will maximize the use of resources through test planning based on previous results and trend analysis. Test automation is essential considering the total number of system baseline test combinations resulting from a given aviation mission system production line. Successful Verification and Validation (V&V) of complex systems relies on a representative test environment, test data, and Subject Matter Expert (SME) manpower to investigate tough cognitive issues encountered during integration. The U.S. Army organizes its development test efforts around small number of testable requirements relative to the new or updated build features and available test resources per site.Ā Without the knowledge of which requirements have been tested, what conditions were used, and the pass/fail status, valuable test resources and SME manpower is wasted. Once test planning is complete and resources are secured, further SME labor is expended by manually conducting and analyzing repetitive tests. This process is labor intensive and tedious where test teams are required to select tests to run, create the input, start the test, capture data, analyze results, evaluate performance, and then determine pass/fail status for V&V.Ā IDTÆs proposed solution will address these issues by providing a model-based automate V&V capability that will create tests directly from an AADL system model.???????
