Research abstract

The AN/ALE-47 Countermeasures Dispenser Set (CMDS) Mission Data Files (MDF) is installed on almost all active Navy aircraft and is a vital component of the Aircraft Survivability Equipment (ASE) Suite.Ā Testing the ASE to fully exercise a complete set of MDF functionality is a time consuming and laborious process.Ā This presents a challenge for manual testing to efficiently cover all required MDF permutations.Ā To fully exercise an MDF, all combinations of inputs, along with test scenarios and conditions that range from normal operation to failure modes, must be tested and verified.Ā This manual testing approach limits the ability to test each MDF under all flight scenarios.Ā Ā The original objective of this project was to utilize automation in the MDF testing process in order to fully exercise and verify the complete set of system functionality.ĀĀ Throughout Phase I and Phase II of this project, IDT implemented a Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) behavioral model that enables automatic generation of test scripts, test execution, test analysis and test reports.ĀĀĀ Ā This effort will comprise tasking to incorporate IDTÆs Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) Automated Test & ReTest (ATRT) capabilities for the definition, execution, and analytics of ATRT Test Beds by re-hosting the ATRT Enterprise Platform (AEP) within Naval Research Enterprise (NRE) Environments.ĀĀĀ AEP capabilities will be made portable, composable, and configurable; hosted and dynamically deployed initially within Black Pearl Impact Level 5 (IL5) environment, Impact Level 6 (IL6) when available, and ultimately within the Business of Innovation Research and Development Environment (BIRDE) which is being implemented by NavalX and the Office of Naval Research.Ā These environments seek to address the National Defense Strategy (NDS) objectives in support of the CNOÆs NAVPLAN and USMCÆs Force Design 2030 to outpace adversarial capabilities to deliver critical fleet capabilities faster.
