Research abstract

NP Photonics proposes to develop fused mid-infrared fiber combiners that can combine quantum cascade lasers at 4.5-5 micron leveraging our unique capability and substantial experience in making mid-infrared fibers and fiber devices. In the Phase I program, we will investigate the feasibility and study the risk to fabricate fused mid-infrared fiber combiners. In Phase II, low-loss fiber combiners with high power handling capability meeting or exceeding the requirements for Air Force applications will be developed and delivered.
