Research abstract

áInitial threat surveillance and response has become substantially more complex and sophisticated due to advancements in technology with unpredictable hostile actors.á Response forces can no longer simply react to incidents as they occur but require systems that can enable a proactive response to possible threats before they become incidents. Incidents related to active and overt threats are on the rise. Often, these threats target small teams in austere environments where they become increasingly difficult to detect, manage, and provide real time response updates to combat teams. Within an austere environment specifically, threats gain additional opportunities to escape detection or utilize terrain where they cannot be easily neutralized if not discovered quickly.á Current deployed force protection systems are not adequate to detect and assist in the response to these incidents, especially when incidents occur at the same time, occur within sensitive compartments, require significant object avoidance, or perpetrators can covertly escape detection. Utilizing the proposed integrated system, the response to said incidents will dramatically enhance the detection, monitoring, and management of multiple incidentsľdespite the challenges of austere environments, particularly in unexpected scenarios such as aircraft issues, convoy break-downs, etc.. ZeroEyes proposes a dual-use, integrated solution to proactively identify, track, and respond in real-time to austere threats. The integrated solution, ZE Situational Awareness Kit (ZAK), utilizes ZeroEyesĺ proven, commercially available TRL 9 solution in use today by hundreds of public safety organizations throughout the United States adapted for war-fighting force protection efforts. Combining ZeroEyes technology with commercially available tethered-UAS (t-UAS) platforms, operators and force protection teams will be able to rapidly respond to threats in austere locations not suitable for traditional security platforms. Combining the ZeroEyes solution with a t-UAS, operators will gain more protection to combat threatsľleaving forces stronger equipped for any future challenge. With real-time communication, collaboration, and coordination, response teams will gain situational awareness over a common operating picture to streamline the response to any hostile threat.
