Research abstract

This effort surrounds our adapted solution for simultaneous command and control of multiple remotely operated unmanned systems, and exemplary use cases include any myriad of applications or situations where groups of drones will be a force multiplier (e.g., ISR roles in DoD, Active Shooter situations in Law Enforcement, and equipment inspections in the commercial sector). The scope of this project is to empower any individual airman to control between 3 and 5 drone systems, focusing for this proposal on Group 1 and 2 drone sizes, from a single command dashboard software package mounted on a user device. Squire will capitalize and expand upon our maturing drone control software, designed to enable a drone operator to launch, control, and recover a drone using voice commands and natural language processing, enabling the drone to operate in a semi- autonomous fashion given a set of customizable and user-defined pre-programmed parameters. Post-Phase II prototype development efforts will focus upon maturing this technology into increasingly larger unmanned systems to complement C2 of systems from Groups 1 through 5, and perhaps beyond.
