Research abstract

???????Adversaries are increasingly leveraging the rapidly evolving IE to advance their strategic interests against those of the US and allied nations. Maintaining an information advantage in the progressively fragmented online landscape is challenging, as the impact of activities in the IE are difficult to discern and “real-world” effects are often not well understood until long after the events have occurred. As the importance and complexity of the IE increases, effective understanding and navigation of this environment are crucially important to the success of USAF missions around the world, which need the ability to detect and counter foreign malign influence operations globally across a large number of social platforms that have no geographic boundary. Through the funding of this Phase II and associated research, development, testing, and evaluation (RDTE), Graphika will enable a situational awareness capability to detect foreign influence operations within the cybersocial terrain and leverage this capability to maintain US information advantage. The goal of Phase II is to significantly reduce time to insight (up to 75% of analytic labor hours), substantially ramp up data access, and provide USAF and AFSOC with a prototype to explore the communities coalescing on image and video platforms driven by actors adversarial to US national security. ???????
